Meeting with arrived in Artsakh large group of culture workers

On 3 April President Bako Sahakyan received a large group of culture workers, among them famous musician and composer Serj Tankian, film director, screenwriter Atom Egoyan, philanthropists and representatives of the “Artsakh Fund” organization’s USA branch who arrived in Artsakh at the “Tufenkian” foundation initiative.
Various issues regarding the life in Artsakh, the state-building process, regional trends and the Motherland-Diaspora ties were touched upon during the meeting.
The Head of the State considered important such visits to Artsakh noting their positive impact on developing culture in the republic, introducing Artsakh to the outer world and strengthening the inter-Armenian ties.

President Serzh Sargsyan sent a letter of condolences to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin

President Serzh Sargsyan sent today a letter of condolences to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the tragic explosion in Saint Petersburg metro station, which took innocent lives and left many injured.

The President of the Republic of Armenia expressed confidence that the Russian municipal and federal authorities would do their utmost to identify the reasons of the occurred incident.

President Sargsyan asked to convey his condolences and words of support to all those who lost their relatives and close people as well as he wished speedy recovery to all those injured.

Armenians among victims of Saint Petersburg metro station explosion

There are Armenians among the victims of the explosion that took place in Saint Petersburg.

This is what Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Balayan posted on his Twitter microblog.

“According to the preliminary data of the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Saint Petersburg, there are Armenians among the victims of the explosion that took place at a metro station in Saint Petersburg,” Balayan stated.

At midday, an explosion took place at the Sennaya Ploshad Station of Saint Petersburg Metropolitan. According to preliminary data, the explosion killed 10.

Artsakh’s teachers to take training course in Beirut as part of “What are YOU doing for Artsakh?” pan-Armenian movement

On 3 April, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Principal of Vardan Minasyan Primary School #2 of Martakert Melsida Kardumyan, teachers Lusine Saiyan and Ruzanna Avetisyan who, at the invitation of the Holy Cross Harboyan High School, will be traveling to Beirut to participate in a weeklong training course devoted to inclusive education. The training course will be held as part of the “What are YOU doing for Artsakh?” pan-Armenian movement.

Greeting the guests, Minister Hranush Hakobyan attached importance to the initiative of the Holy Cross Harboyan High School in Beirut and stated that this initiative was one of the School’s ways to become the main participant of the “What are YOU doing for Artsakh?” pan-Armenian movement. The Minister wished the teachers success and added the following: “It would be great, if you could establish strong ties with your colleagues abroad and use their knowledge and share their experiences in Armenia and Artsakh.”

Consultation held at the RA Ministry of Diaspora

On 3 April, Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia held a consultation with Deputy Minister Vahagn Melikyan, Chief of Staff of the RA Ministry of Diaspora Firdus Zakaryan, the director of the “Homeland-Diaspora Center” SNCO and the heads of departments and divisions of the Ministry.

The heads of departments and divisions delivered their weekly reports, pinpointed the upcoming programs and events and made recommendations.

The Minister attached importance to the activities of Diaspora Armenian youth organizations and their active participation in the Ministry’s “Ari Tun” Program and “Diaspora” Summer School Program this year.

The organizing of the Armenia-Diaspora Conference, as well as the priority of turning the conference into a platform for the strengthening of bonds with the Armenian Diaspora, the paths for development of partnership and the need for views on approaches and the proposals were touched upon during the consultation.

Parliamentary election 2017: Central Electoral Commission sums up preliminary results of voting

On April 3, as of 12:00, the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia convened an extraordinary session during which it summarized the results of 2009 polling stations and formed a protocol of preliminary results of the voting, reports Armenpress.

The CEC recorded the following results, and all members signed the protocol, there is no note of any specific opinion:

Yelk bloc – 122.049 votes or 7.77 %

Free Democrats Party – 14.746 votes or 0.94 %

Armenian Renaissance Party – 58.277 votes or 3.71 %

Tsarukyan bloc – 428.965 votes or 27.32 %

Congress-APP bloc – 25.975 votes or 1.65 %

Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) – 771.247 votes or 49.12 %

Communist Party of Armenia – 11.745 votes or 0.75 %

Ohanyan-Raffi-Oskanian bloc – 32.504 votes or 2.07 %

Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) – 103.173 votes or 6.57 %

The protocol covers also the votes of candidates of regional lists. 2009 polling stations operated in 13 electoral districts nationwide on April 2. 1 million 577.323(or 60.93%) eligible citizens cast their votes. Presidents Of Armenia And Russia Exchanged Messages On The Occasion Of The 25th Anniversary Of The Establishment Of Diplomatic Relations Between The Two Countries

President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Russia.

The message of President Sargsyan addressed to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin reads,

“Distinguished Vladimir Vladimirovich,

I cordially congratulate you on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Russian Federation.

This momentous event opened a qualitatively new page in the centuries-long history of the Armenian-Russian friendship, brotherhood, and mutual assistance, created the foundation of the allied strategic partnership between Armenia and Russia.

It is critically important that the policies aimed at the enhancement of the bilateral cooperation is supported by the societies of our countries, while the atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding present at the meetings with you allow to adopt and implement decisions characteristic of a true partnership.

Today, relations between Armenia and Russia stand at their highest level and are characterized by the active political dialogue, efficient coordination of the steps at the regional and international platforms, mutual efforts aimed at upholding peace and security in the South Caucasus region.

We have adopted important decisions related to the mutual advancement of the projects in the economic, humanitarian, and other areas; interparliamentary and inter-regional cooperation are gaining momentum.

High school in Artashat town holds event devoted to Aivazovsky

The launch of the Our Greats Program (the program is being carried out as part of the state policy of the RA Ministry of Diaspora on Armenia-Diaspora partnership) was marked with a recent event devoted to renowned Armenian marine artist Hovhannes (Ivan) Aivazovsky at the high school in the town of Artashat.

 As reported the school to Hayern Aysor, the pupils presented the life and career of the renowned marine artist. What was interesting was the painting exhibition called “Aivazovsky’s Paintings Through the Eyes of Children”.

Among the participants of the event were the eighth to twelfth graders. The pupils received certificates for the best works and active participation.

25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Cyprus

Ministers of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian and Ioannis Kasoulides exchanged messages on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Cyprus.

In his message Edward Nalbandian notes the special role of Cyprus for Armenia as a friendly country with which we are connected not only by centuries-old numerous historical and cultural ties but also by close interstate relations based on deep mutual respect and warmth.

Foreign Minister of Armenia underlines that the Armenian-Cypriote cooperation in past quarter of a century has been built upon solid bases and that we enjoy a wide mutual understanding on the most important regional and international issues.

Edward Nalbandian stresses the importance of traditional warm relations established between Armenia and Cyprus and expresses confidence that through joint efforts we will be able to further develop and deepen them for the benefit and prosperity of our two friendly nations.

Ioannis Kasoulides notes in his message that friendly and brotherly ties, as well as strong relations between our countries are much deeper than the last 25 years and underlines that Cyprus and Armenia not only share common values and traditions, but are also connected by numerous historical and cultural ties.

In his letter Minister Kasoulides highlights that in this time of numerous challenges Cyprus will continue to work towards further deepening of relations with Armenia and creating new opportunities for cooperation for the benefit of two friendly nations.

Foreign Minister of Cyprus emphasises that we have established strong basis for dynamic bilateral relations, which will bring success to our future cooperation.
