“It’s time to retrieve Tigranakert”-voters’ expectations from Garo Pailan

Garo Pailan’s followers on social networks say that the victory of Turkey’s pro-Kurdish political party in the upcoming elections will provide the opportunity to allow Diyarbakir to retrieve its historical name.

Istanbul-Armenian Deputy of the Parliament of Turkey, member of the pro-Kurdish oppositional Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Garo Pailan had a meeting with his voters in Diyarbakir.

On June 24, Turkey will hold snap parliamentary and presidential elections. Pailan, who is Diyarbakir’s candidate, has met with the citizens and conveyed the greetings of jailed leader of the Peoples’ Democratic Party Selahattin Demirtash.

The politician posted photos of his meeting on his Instagram and wrote the following: “We continue to work for the HDP 24 hours a day.”

A follower wrote to Pailan that Diyarbakir has the opportunity to retrieve its historical name Tigranakert, which was the capital of Great Hayk during the reign of Armenian King Tigran the Great.

Earlier, leader of the HDP Demirtas had said that Armenians are the indigenous people of Diyarbakir, writes Sputnik-Արմենիա.
