Ministry of Diaspora hosts inter-agency commission’s session ahead of 100th anniversary of Homenetmen

On June 6, the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia hosted the second session of the inter-agency commission set up to organize the festivities dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian General Athletic Union (Homenetmen) and the 11th Pan-Homenetmen Jamboree. Among the participants were Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan; Deputy Minister Babken Der-Grigorian; Chairman of the National Scout Movement of Armenia NGO Davit Hakobyan, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Education and Science, Culture, Healthcare, Transport, Communication and Information Technologies, Sport and Youth Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the Police of the Republic of Armenia, Yerevan Municipality and the Homenetmen Central Committee.

In his opening remarks, Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan greeted the participants of the session and stated that the festivities dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian General Athletic Union (Homenetmen) and the 11th Pan-Homenetmen Jamboree must be held properly and at a high level. “Homenetmen plays an invaluable and unforgettable role in preservation of the Armenian identity, strengthening of Armenia-Diaspora relations and development of the scout movement,” Mkhitar Hayrapetyan stated.

Chairman of the National Scout Movement of Armenia NGO Davit Hakobyan stated that the NGO has had meetings with the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Prime Minister and the Ministers of Defense and Diaspora, adding that all the programs dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Homenetmen have been reaffirmed and that organizing of those programs is underway.

Member of Homenetmen Central Committee Oshin Peroomian provided details about the program of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary, and through a discussion, the representatives of all the government agencies specified their actions and the final schedule of events. Oshin Peroomian emphasized that from July 19 to 29, Armenia will be hosting 1,200 scouts from 22 countries and that the 11th Pan-Homenetmen Jamboree will be held at the central campsite of Homenetmen-HASK in Byurakan.

Head of the Postal Department at the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies of the Republic of Armenia Tsovinar Galstyan reported on the issuance of a stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Homenetmen.
