116 museums of Armenia and Artsakh to participate in 2018 Museums at Night event

This year, Armenia will host the 15th and Artsakh will host the 6th Museums at Night event on 19 May. The event will be held on the Saturday closest to the International Day of Museums (18 May) and is sponsored by the Council of Europe, the UNESCO and ICOM.

Since 1977, every May 18th, the International Day of Museums gathers more than 30,000 museums in different countries around the world.

As reported the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia to Hayern Aysor, 116 museums of Armenia and Artsakh have joined the initiative this year.

In 2018, the theme for the International Day of Museums — selected by ICOM — is “Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics”. The 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia will also be touched upon during the two-day events.

According to the format of the events, the doors of 116 museums of Armenia and Arstakh will be open for the public on 18 May (10:00-18:00) and 19 May (18:00-00:00). On 19 May, Yerevan Metropolitan will be open until 01:00.
