Events dedicated to 103rd anniversary of Armenian Genocide held in Madrid

On April 22, on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Catholic Church of Spain served a homily dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The homily was part of the several events that are being held in Madrid in commemoration of the 103rd anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Among the attendees were representative of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Madrid, Friar Shnorhk Sargsyan and the Renaissance church choir of Madrid, which performed several Armenian psalms during the homily.

On April 23, Madrid hosted a lecture/discussion devoted to the Armenian Genocide. In his welcoming remarks at the event, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Kingdom of Spain Avet Adonts attached importance to such events in the context of recognition and condemnation of the crimes committed against humanity and stressed the major role that information plays during such events.

From April 22 to 24, Madrid is hosting a photo exhibition called “The Armenian Genocide on the Front Pages of Foreign Newspapers”, featuring materials provided by the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.

The events gather many Hispanics, Armenian Genocide researchers, as well as students of universities and mass media representatives.

The events were organized by the Armenian Home Cultural Society of Madrid, the Representation of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Madrid and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia.
