The “stone” witnesses of Armenian history

On March 10, within the scope of the “We Speak Armenian” language class held every week for the young Armenians of Saint Petersburg, the Armenian Alumni Club of the University of Saint Petersburg hosted another meeting that was devoted to cross-stones and entitled “The “Stone” Witnesses of Our History”, reported the Armenian community of Saint Petersburg to Hayern Aysor.

Young researcher Garik Hovhannisyan, who had traveled from Armenia, presented the elements and ornaments of cross-stones, as well as their significance and other details on the cross-stone placed in the yard of the St. Katarine Church. The presentation was followed by the screening of a short film devoted to the design and making of a cross-stone.

Among the attendees were young Russians and Armenians. After the meeting, the attendees watched an interesting short film devoted to the cross-stone placed by a Russian family and entitled “A Story of a Cross-Stone”.
