Foreign Minister of Armenia met with the delegation headed by the President of the National Council of Switzerland

On February 6, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with the representative delegation headed by Dominique de Buman, the President of the National Council of Switzerland, who is in Armenia on an official visit, which includes Vice Presidents of the National Council, as well as representatives of all parliamentary factions.

Congratulating the President of the National Council of Switzerland on assuming the high office in November last year, Edward Nalbandian expressed his gratitude to Dominique de Buman for his consistent efforts towards strengthening the Armenian-Swiss relations. Minister Nalbandian considered symbolic that heads of Armenia-Switzerland Parliamentary Friendship Groups – Ara Babloyan and Dominique de Buman were elected chairmen of the Armenian and Swiss parliaments.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception of the Swiss parliamentary delegation in Armenia, Dominique de Buman noted that this is already his fifth visit to Armenia and it is a pleasure to see the progress of the friendly country. He added that taking into consideration that the President of the Swiss National Council pays his first official visit to Armenia, attests to the interest of deepening and expanding the Armenian-Swiss relations.

In the course of the meeting issues related to the Armenian-Swiss bilateral agenda were discussed, the sides touched upon the expansion of trade and economic ties, effective cooperation on international platforms.

Edward Nalbandian and Dominique de Buman commended the effective cooperation established between the two countries in the inter-parliamentary format, highlighting the activities of the friendship groups in the two parliaments.

At the meeting the sides exchanged views on preparations for the Summit of the International Organization of La Francophonie to be held in Yerevan this October. In this context, Dominique de Buman wished success with regards the organization and conduct of the Summit.

Foreign Minister presented to the delegation led by the President of the National Council of Switzerland the latest developments around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the joint efforts of Armenia and the Minsk Group Co-Chair countries aimed at the exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict.
