Hranush Hakobyan receives Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte

On November 17, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received U.S.-based lawyer, public figure and author of the book “Nowhere: A Story of Exile” Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte.

During the meeting, Anna Astvatsaturian-Turcotte informed the Minister that the purpose of her visit is to give lectures at universities in Yerevan. Recently, she was hosted by the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University and will soon be giving lectures at Yerevan State University and Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences after Valery Brusov.

The U.S.-based writer also informed that presentations of the book “Nowhere: A Story of Exile” have been held in several cities across Russia.

Hranush Hakobyan and Anna Astvatsaturian-Turcotte discussed issues related to the anniversary of the Sumgait pogroms and the 30th anniversary of the Artsakh Movement. To tell the truth about the Sumgait tragedy to the public at large, it was proposed to organize screenings of the documentary film “Sumgait: Typical Genocide”.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Hranush Hakobyan transmitted to Anna Astvatsaturian Turcotte the Arshile Gorky Medal of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia granted to her father, Norik Astvatsaturov.
