Concert dedicated to 50th anniversary of Arax Mansourian’s singing career was held

On September 18, at the initiative of the Ministries of Diaspora and Culture of the Republic of Armenia, a concert dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the career of singer Arax Mansourian was held Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. The concert was held as part of the 6th Armenia-Diaspora Pan-Armenian Conference.

Among the attendees were Speaker of the National Assembly Ara Babloyan; Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan; Minister of Culture Armen Amiryan and composer, Merited Art Figure of the Republic of Armenia, People’s Artist of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mansurian. The participants of the 6th Armenia-Diaspora Pan-Armenian Conference were also participating in the concert.

The concert featured performances of the works of Komitas, Tigranyan, Tigran Mansurian, Mozart, Bize and Leo Cavallo by Arax Mansourian’s foreign students, including Rhian Saunders, Andrew Dickson, Georgia Kokkoris, Jiang Hongxin and Juliette Moon.

The Symphony Orchestra of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet (conducted by Ruben Asatryan) also performed during the concert.

At the end of the concert, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan congratulated the merited singer on the 50th anniversary of her career and particularly stated the following: “This event, which symbolizes the beautiful cultural ties between Armenia and the Diaspora, was enshrined in the modern history of Armenian culture. It helped reinterpret the fact that among us there are people who represent an entire nation with their existence and activities and that we often don’t even feel that even though a given person is far away from us, he or she is close to us with his or her soul. These words are very descriptive for Arax Mansourian. We need to cross the equator to meet her, or she has to cross it and come to the homeland where her audience always awaits her with love and longing…Arax is always by our side with the infinite charm of a human being and a woman, with her characters, with her children and, last but not least, by being a Mansourian.”

The Minister emphasized the fact that the audience had the opportunity to enjoy seeing Arax Mansourain the singer, the master/teacher and the patriot. “Arax Mansourian has charmed, captivated and inspired thousands of audiences. With her warmth and charm, she teaches Armenian songs to her foreign students and introduces them to the songs of Komitas that are like the art of Mesrop Mashtots. Dear Arax, we are grateful to you for your work,” Hranush Hakobyan concluded.

After her speech, the Minister granted the Certificate of Appreciation of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to Arax Mansourian for her significant contributions to the cultural partnership between Armenia and the Diaspora and on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of her career. Hranush Hakobyan also granted certificates of appreciation to Arax Mansourian’s students, including Rhian Saunders, Andrew Dickson, Georgia Kokkoris, Jiang Hongxin and Juliette Moon.
