Iranians are electing a president today. According to the press release of Iran’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mostafa Agha Mirsalim, Eshaq Jahangiri, Hassan Rouhani, Ebrahim Raisi, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Mostafa Hashemitaba are the six confirmed candidates, reports IRNA. However, Ghalibaf officially endorsed Rayisi and stepped out of the race on May 15. On May 16, Jahangiri officially announced that he was no longer in the race and endorsed President Hassan Rouhani.

To win, the candidate must earn more than 50 percent of the votes. If no candidate garners the adequate number of votes, then the second stage will be held.

The 12th Iranian presidential elections for Iranians abroad will be held in 103 countries and within 132 embassies or consulates, writes armradio.am.
