Medical Aid to Needy Syrian-Armenians in Armenia Program launched

On March 17, Izmirlian Medical Center hosted the inaugural ceremony for the Medical Aid to Needy Syrian-Armenians in Armenia Program and the ceremony of signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation.

The partnering organizations are the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, the Armenian General Benevolent Union Foundation in Armenia, the Center for Coordination of Syrian-Armenians’ Issues NGO and Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Non-Governmental Organization.

According to Hayern Aysor, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan gave a welcoming speech in which she attached importance to the launch of another program for Syrian-Armenians and particularly stated the following: “I would like to express gratitude to the partnering organizations of the Medical Aid to Needy Syrian-Armenians in Armenia Program, especially the humanitarian center of Izmirlian Foundation which, with the blessing of the Supreme Patriarch, is willing to help solve Syrian-Armenians’ medical issues and provide them with appropriate medical consulting and assistance. We have created all the conditions for our dear Syrian-Armenians. To this day, more than 5,000 Syrian-Armenians have been provided with free services and medical aid at polyclinics. I would like to express special gratitude to the doctors for their care and daily activities.”

On the occasion of the launch of the program, Director of Izmirlian Foundation in Armenia Lusine Galajyan greeted the attendees and expressed gratitude to the partnering organizations.

In his welcoming speech, Director of Izmirlian Medical Center Armen Charchyan stated the following: “Today we have gathered to carry out a program, the implementation of which is our sacred duty as Armenians and as cosmopolitans. As a doctor, I express my deep gratitude to all the partnering organizations for undertaking the initiative, organizing and managing to implement this program.”

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Director of Izmirlian Foundation in Armenia Lusine Galajyan; Head of the Social Services Center of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Fr. Priest Marcos Mangasaryan; Chief of Staff of the RA Ministry of Diaspora Firdus Zakaryan; Director of Izmirlian Medical Center, Professor Armen Charchyan; Director of the Office of the Armenian General Benevolent Union Foundation in Yerevan Dalar Kazanjian; President of the Center for Coordination of Syrian-Armenians’ Issues NGO Lena Halajian and founding Vice-President of Aleppo Compatriotic Charitable Non-Governmental Organization Dzovig Baitarian.

The goal of the Medical Aid to Needy Syrian-Armenians in Armenia Program is to provide free medical aid to needy Syrian-Armenians who have been living in Armenia as a result of the Syrian war since 2012. The program is co-financed by the Izmirlian Foundation and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. It will be carried out by Izmirlian Medical Center, which will provide the beneficiaries with special discounts for all the medical services that the medical center has to offer.
