Reception dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence held in Damascus

On September 21, the Al-Mutanabi Hall of Dama Rose Hotel of Damascus hosted a reception dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia. Syrian Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Ahmad al-Qadiri was the guest of honor at the event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Syria, as reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among the attendees were Syria’s grand mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun, Political Affairs Advisor of the President Bouthaina Shaaban, representative of the Central Committee of BASS Party Malik Ali, Minister of Tourism Bashar Yaziji, Minister of Electricity Mohammad Zouheir Kharboutli, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputies of the People’s Council of Syria, public and political figures, intellectuals, journalists, spiritual leaders of the Armenian Church and sister Christian churches, as well as members of the local Armenian community.

In his speech addressed to the attendees, RA Ambassador to Syria Arshak Poladyan touched upon the past 25 years of independence of the Republic of Armenia and the achievements, talked about the current relations between Syria and Armenia, presented the priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy and wished the people of Syria peace and stability.

During the reception, awards and certificates of appreciation of the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Syria were granted to several Syrian public and political figures and representatives of the Armenian community of Damascus for their contributions to the strengthening of Armenian-Syrian ties.
